Nestled in the heart of Japan between two great alpine ranges, Jibuzaka lies along the historic Chuma Kaido, an ancient trade route once vital for the transport of salt and pottery. Spanning several centuries, this route played a key role in shaping the region’s economy and culture.

Jibuzaka also holds historical significance from the Sengoku Jidai (Warring States Period). It was a strategic location during Takeda Shingen’s final campaign, a bold but ill-fated push against Tokugawa Ieyasu. Had it succeeded, the outcome might have dramatically altered the course of Japanese history.

Today, the area's geography lends itself to ideal touge driving, with winding roads, sharp corners, and dramatic elevation changes. Drivers are spoiled for choice with an endless network of scenic and technical routes.

Surrounding Jibuzaka are lush forests that transform beautifully with the seasons, from vivid greens in spring, to fiery oranges and yellows in autumn, delicate pinks in cherry blossom season, and a peaceful white blanket in winter. Rich in biodiversity, the area is home to much of Japan’s wildlife, making it a tranquil escape filled with birdsong and natural beauty.
